Alternative / Recommended Lighting
Programmes for Alternative Systems
Gradual light increases during peak help
maintain
the high levels of the two hormones - Luteinizing Hormone and the Follicle
Stimulating Hormone.
Please Note: Light intensity can be
gradually reduced over the slat/perch area once the initial training
period has been completed ie 22-23 weeks.
If additional
egg weight is required, the ‘delayed lighting’ programme should be used.
This will delay maturity by approximately 7 days but egg weight will be
increased. In addition light stimulation should not be introduced until
body weight has reached 1500 grams.

Alternative Systems
It is
important the Variety Brown does not have a large light increase at any
one time, because this could result in over consumption of feed and may
cause EODES, (Erratic Ovulation and Defective Egg
Syndrome).
